What is the nearest Airport?
Three commercial airports and one general airport for private planes serve 40-mile-long Smith Mountain Lake. Roanoke Regional Airport is located about 1 hour from The Coves and Raleigh-Durham International Airport is about a 2 hour drive. Greensboro and Lynchburg Airports also provide close access to The Coves.
Do you have complete homes for sale?

How much are the homes at the coves?
Complete waterfront homes range from $520K to $625K. Pre-construction lot/home packages are now being offered for $469k (lot 10) and $649k (lot 14). Prices subject to change without notice.
Are homeowners able to rent out their homes at will?
Members of the Coves Club may utilize the Getaway Club Membership to generate revenue from their homes for the time periods of their choosing.
What is the Getaway Club?
It is a one year club membership for non-homeowners that allows them to use vacant or available weeks of their choosing submitted by homeowner club members. The homeowner club member supplying the week receives 80% of the dues received by the club from the getaway member. the coves club manages the overall process.
Are the homes on septic systems?
Each homes has its own packaged septic system. Final post-treatment phase water is pumped to the mass drainfield located on the south ridge of The Coves property.
If an approved builder is used, is the Architectural Review process still required?
The Architectural Review process is required on all new construction. The cost for the review is $2000.
What is the minimum square footage required for houses in The Coves?
The minimum square footage is 1,500.
What is the maximum square footage allowed for houses in The Coves?
The maximum square footage allowed is 6,500.
Are snowmobiles or ATVs allowed on the trails?
Snowmobiles and ATV’s are not allowed on the trails, with the exception of ATVs involved in maintenance.
Are the trails on community property?
Our trails, which exist mainly on common area property, are a defining part of The Coves experience. However, some of the most attractive sections of the trail are on waterfront land that in some cases is owned by private lot owners who have granted passage to Club members and their guests. These segments that cross private lots have enjoy a 10’ right of way easement that in most cases is marked by distinctive signage.
what amenities are on the Trails?
4 Pavillions with Adirondak chairs for relaxation, a covered hilltop picnic shelter for larger groups, 40’ steel and oak bridge crossing, and erosion control blocks that can be used as steps in certain steep-grade areas. There are also signs to locate distinctive trees in wooded areas. Community dock slips are also accessible from the trail system.
who provides internet and phone service?
The Coves Club maintains a commercial contract with Verizon Wireless to deliver internet and phone service into each home through a wireless router.
Where does the community source its water?
The Western Virginia Water Authority provides water to The Coves through lines installed to each lot at the time the community was first built.
how far is the nearest full-service grocery store?
Within 25 minutes drive, there are Kroger stores at both the east end of Rocky Mount (on state highway 40) and at the Westlake Shopping Mall in Hardy (on Booker T Washington Highway).
