The Coves FAQs
The Coves at Smith Mountain Lake
The Coves is a private, thriving community of beautiful homes nestled among quiet walking trails on the western shores of Smith Mountain Lake. Our owners are passionate about the outdoors, living in concert with nature, and sharing live music on our stage in support of food aid for children in need. Learn how you can be a part of our vision and own a home at www.covesatsml.com.
How did the Coves Amphitheater come to be?
The Coves began presenting live music to support and raise money for children in need in the fall of 2020, using the front porch of a cabin to serve as the stage. To provide relief from the first year of the COVID pandemic we all confronted, artists such as The Lonesome River Band, Junior Sisk, and Jerry Douglas played intimate and socially distant-concerts onto our open fields. From this began the building of a state of the art venue on a sloping field with stunning views of the Lake and the Blue Ridge mountains. Since 2021, nationally known artists played to adoring crowds including Sarah Jarosz, Michael Franti, Paul Thorn, Pure Prairie League, Tommy Emmanuel, Ricky Skaggs, Tab Benoit, Crawford & Power, Bruce Hornsby, The Allman Betts Band, The Mavericks, The Marshall Tucker Band, Asleep at the Wheel, and many others. In 2023 you will see even more improvements to your concert experience with another stellar line up of top notch performers.
How do Charities Benefit from these Concerts?
The Coves Amphitheater is made available to our charity partners to host concerts, led by Smith Mountain Lake Good Neighbors. Net profits are shared with our partners, with special emphasis on food aid programs aimed at children. Since we began, thousands of dollars have gone to help support these programs. In 2023, we hope to leverage our success and experience to raise even more money to help these charities deliver on their mission.
